Well... I just got a STAR DAS & I know that I will be spending A LOT of time on the W211 thread looking at their STAR DIY... I Think that we should for sure have one of those as a STICKY on here & I will certainly contribute BUT it won't be until I have done my due diligence and learned how to use it (probably the hard way)

What do you have to do to get a thread to be STICKY anyway??? any moderators or administrators want to chime in here? Can we please get this DIY as STICKY??? I would like to log in & not have to search for it when I need it

DIY for Console Trim Removal ?

Hello,

Does anyone have a DYI instruction for removing the center console trim? My 2007 SL55 factory carbon trim is starting to delaminate behind the console shifter and back towards the top lowering lever in front of the center compartment.

Has this happened to anyone of you? My thinking is; if I can remove the trim I can repair it by epoxying it to the fiberboard backing and clamp it until it cures. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Earl J

Sl55 service manual codes

For every service activity in the mb service manual there is a final column with a four digit number, for example, ABC fluid service is 3213, steering and boot inspection service is 4653. Does anybody know what these numbers are reference to? If they are to MB procedure how can I get copies or a set? I live in remote NM town far from MB mechanic - I am well intentioned but dangerous with a wrench but dead set to do my own service work.

trunk carpet removal

Does anyone have a DIY for removing the trunk carpet above the roof hydraulic pump? I have it completely detached from fasteners. it would seem that you have to remove the roof brace/trunk hinge to get it out. Any help would be appreciated.

You have to put the trunk into service mode. Check out this video:

“Missing” idle and A/C issues

Hey all. Have an ‘04 SL55 that I recently purchased and I’m chasing some issues. First off is a “rough” idle issue. It literally sounds like I’ve dropped a cylinder but my MB shop said their not showing any evidence of a miss on their computer. Also the car just made 510hp and 570lb/ft at the wheels so apparently it’s not running too poorly. Someone suggested it’s a cam but I’ve never heard a cam sound like a dead hole. Second issue is the A\C only blows cold when moving at a good pace. If I get stuck in traffic it stats to blow warm air. I live in AZ so obviously I’m dealing with substantially warmer ambient temps but none the less I’d like to think a car of this caliber is capable of blowing cold air even in triple digit temps while stuck in traffic. Anyway, I’m sure there are a ton of details I’d need to supply in order to give someone a good shot at helping me figure out what’s going on but I suppose I can dole that out when asked. Thanks in advance.

Maybe you have a loose spark plug. Worth a look it will cause a noise like you described.
